Homemade Crackers

Homemade whole wheat crackers flavored with parmesan, black pepper and alaea sea salt

Crackers are easy to make and use only a few ingredients. They are a great way to get all those homemade goodies like cheese, homemade Greek style yogurt and buttermilk ranch dip into your mouth too!

1 cup whole wheat flour

2 cups Shredded cheese like Parmesan or cheddar

6 tablespoons butter

2-4 tablespoons water

1-2 tablespoons seasoning like the dried buttermilk ranch dressing, rosemary, garlic, black pepper or whatever tickles your fancy and compliments the cheese you choose!

Sprinkle of salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Set out a non-greased cookie sheet.

In a bowl combine flour, shredded cheese, and seasoning.

Cut in butter so that the pieces are small and evening distributed through mixture.

Slowly add in water. This should be a very dry dough.

Work dough into a ball with hands and once the powder of the ingredients is worked in place dough on counter and roll it out to a uniform thinness.

Once dough is rolled out you can cut into cracker shapes. I did this originally with a knife but found that a shot glass made nice sized crackers. If dough is sticking add a bit more flour to surface.

Place cut out crackers on cookie sheet and prick with a fork.

Sprinkle with salt.

Bake for about 10-25 minutes depending on thickness. Turn about halfway through cooking time.

Crackers should be golden when done.

Let them cool and get ready for a cheese and cracker party!
